You’re cooking. They’re running. The kamado doesn’t cool down for hours.
Most parents handle it with constant watching, sending the kids inside, or an improvised barrier. Each of those has a gap — and the ceramic stays dangerously hot long after the food is done.
Heat that lingers
A kamado holds heat long after cooking. The risk window is far longer than the meal itself.
Attention has limits
Supervision works — until you turn to plate up, greet a guest, or grab the tongs. Young children move in seconds.
Improvised fixes look it
A generic hearth fence does the job but turns a premium garden into something that looks like a nursery.
A premium physical buffer — built to belong next to a kamado.
BBQ Guard is being designed as a second line of defence around the hot zone: a considered piece of outdoor furniture, not an improvised gate. It’s an additional physical buffer — supervision and safe distances always remain necessary.
Surrounds the hot zone
A modular surround (round or oval) that marks off the area around the ceramic, with one adult-operated access point.
Premium wood-look, steel core
Weather-resistant wood-look slats on a corrosion-resistant steel frame — meant to look like it was always part of the setup.
Folds flat, stores compact
Designed to open in seconds and pack down small — so moving and storing it never becomes a chore.
Fits common kamados
Being engineered around popular 18–24″ kamados first. Tell us your model and we’ll design for the sizes people actually own.
In and out of storage in three steps
Concept photography of the working prototype — the same surround opens for full access to the kamado, and folds flat for compact storage.
1
Closed around the kamado
The surround sits closed around your kamado, marking off the hot zone with a clean, premium look.
2
Open for full access
One adult-operated door swings open for cooking, refuelling or cleaning — then closes again.
3
Folds flat for storage
Unclip and fold flat in seconds — compact enough to tuck away against a shed or wall.

We’d rather be honest than impressive.
BBQ Guard is a concept in development. It is not yet for sale, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Here’s exactly what that means.
Frequently asked
Does BBQ Guard replace supervision?+
No. It’s designed as an additional physical buffer around the hot zone. Adult supervision and manufacturer-recommended safe distances always remain necessary. We will never market it as a replacement for keeping an eye on children.
Will the surround itself get hot?+
Managing heat is central to the engineering. We’re designing for safe clearance and appropriate materials, and the final safe distances will come from real thermal testing — not from a number we invented for a landing page.
Is it childproof or certified?+
No, and we won’t say it is. BBQ Guard is a concept in development. Any testing or certification basis will be communicated honestly once it actually exists.
Which kamados will it fit?+
We’re engineering around common 18–24″ kamados first. When you sign up you can tell us your exact brand and size, so we design for the models people really own.
How big is it, and can I store it?+
It’s being designed to open in seconds and fold down compact for storage and transport. Exact dimensions are still being finalised.
When can I actually buy one?+
We’re validating interest first. If enough people genuinely want this at the expected price, we move to prototyping, testing and a proper pre-order. Early-access signups hear first — and lock in introduction pricing.
Want one when it launches?
Join early access. You’ll help shape the product, you’re first to hear when it’s ready, and you lock in the introduction price. No payment now — just your email and, if you like, a couple of details that genuinely help us build the right thing.
BBQ Guard is a concept in development and is not currently for sale. All images are concept renders; dimensions, clearance and materials are indicative and still being engineered and tested. BBQ Guard is intended as an additional physical buffer only — it does not replace adult supervision, and manufacturer-recommended safe distances around a hot barbecue always remain necessary.
